Sarah’s Story

When Sarah joined the programme in April 2025, life felt overwhelming.

Debt had become a major source of anxiety, her confidence had taken a knock after a difficult personal experience, and she was at risk of coming into contact with the criminal justice system. Feeling stuck, she began searching online for help and came across People Hub – a decision that marked the start of real change.

Through Konnect, Sarah took part in a range of workshops and training that helped her rebuild both her confidence and her sense of purpose. She completed a Level 2 Mentoring course and gained volunteer training in areas including mental health, neurodiversity and the Criminal Justice System. She also received debt advice and support with her CV and interviews, helping her feel ready to take the next step into work.

Over time, Sarah’s transformation has been remarkable. She’s learned to set boundaries, speak up for herself and approach challenges with a new sense of belief. As a student and volunteer, she’s become known for her thoughtful, empathetic approach and her ability to support others in a professional, person-centred way.

Sarah has since secured a job as a sales assistant, which has boosted her confidence and given her valuable workplace experience. She now hopes to become a youth worker at an activity centre – a role where her caring nature and enthusiasm will shine.

Reflecting on her journey, Sarah says: “My time with Konnect has really been inspiring, from the volunteers to the staff, training has been so educational and really interesting with so many diverse participants. These past months have given me purpose by volunteering, I felt a few years ago that I would never go back in to support work but I actually really love trying to help people… My health and life choices have improved immensely and my mental focus is stronger. I cant thank Konnect enough.”
