Rob joined Pentreath at the beginning of February 2024.At the time, he had been sober for eight weeks, a significant milestone in his journey towards recovery from alcoholism.
With support from We Are With You (WAWY), an organisation dedicated to helping people overcome addiction, Rob began his path to sobriety. He learned about the People Hub through WAWY’s initial meeting, a crucial step as he started reintegrating into the community and working towards future employment. Having been estranged from his wife and children due to past struggles, Rob was determined to turn his life around.
Pentreath provided a supportive environment for Rob, where he attended wellbeing sessions and found it incredibly helpful to discuss ideas and strategies for moving forward. These sessions allowed Rob to reflect on his past behaviours without judgment and recognise the significant progress he had made in a short period. His advisor even wrote a letter to Rob’s family social worker, confirming his active engagement and the support he was receiving.
One of Rob’s major achievements was moving out of supported housing, a testament to his dedication and hard work. Additionally, Rob has decided to give back to the community by joining WAWY’s volunteer programme, aiming to help others who are on similar journeys.
Reflecting on his experience, Rob said, “I really enjoyed meeting with Sue and having chats and coffee, and help with everything I needed advice on.”
Rob’s story is a powerful reminder that with the right support and determination, individuals can overcome past challenges and build a brighter future. His journey continues to inspire those around him and provides hope for others facing similar struggles.
