Jack joined the People Hub programme in January, after hearing about us via the Pluss programme, with a goal to enhance his employability skills and build confidence.

Jack sometimes feels anxious, and wanted support in reducing this in order to progress to paid work.

Through Pluss Me sessions, Jack explored wellbeing and employability, and connected with various projects like Healthy Cornwall, Devon & Cornwall Police, Software Cornwall and Multiply. Jack searched for roles aligned with his interests, completed numeracy upskilling with Multiply and even obtained an L3 qualification in emergency first aid at work.

His hard work paid off – Jack landed an exciting paid role as a youth ambassador for VSF. However, his journey didn’t stop there. After training, he attended his first conference in London as part of his new role. Jack’s journey continues as he embraces regular work placements with Cormac and tackles new challenges, like sitting his L2 maths exam at TOAST. He says:

“Pluss has helped build my confidence. This has really helped my new job. The session about workplace expectations helped me think about what I would need to do at work and this has helped me to fit in. I went for my first conference with my job from Camborne all the way to London. I was nervous, but doing travel planning with Pluss really helped my anxiety. Pluss Me was really fun and it helped me to do my new job and learn new skills, and I am now a first-aider.”

The People Hub and our delivery partners hope to continue to empower individuals like Jack on their journeys to success.
