He had completed his college qualification in Painting and Decorating but wasn’t sure what career to pursue next. A relative suggested he contact Olie at The People Hub for support, and Luke and Olie met to explore options and agree next steps.
Luke shared that his goal was to work as a Highways Operative, and Olie explained the Cormac Academy Programme, which supports people at the early stages of their career to gain skills, experience and employment in highways maintenance. Luke was really motivated by this and focused on working towards the role.
To support this, The People Hub funded Luke’s CSCS and First Aid training, and Olie provided 1-1 support with applications and interview preparation. Luke took all of this on board and worked hard to build his confidence.
Luke was then invited to interview for the Cormac Academy Programme. Although he felt nervous, his preparation paid off and he performed brilliantly. He was offered the job and achieved his goal of becoming a Highways Operative.
Luke is now settled into his role and is already gaining valuable experience and new skills. He is enjoying the work and looking forward to growing in the industry. Congratulations Luke!
