Aryan Finds His Path with Carefree and Cormac

Earlier this year, Aryan was referred to Carefree’s CIAG team through People Hub. At the time he was working in a fish and chip shop but felt ready for a change. He knew he wanted a job that was hands-on, physical and, ideally, outdoors. What he didn’t know was how to get there.

Working closely with Jo, Aryan began building towards his dream. One of the first steps was joining group visits to the Cormac Langarth building site. There he had the chance to speak directly with project managers, ask questions and get a real feel for what a day on site might look like. The visit opened his eyes to the range of roles available and left him excited about the possibilities. Learning about the Cormac Academy offer only fuelled that excitement, and he threw himself into every conversation and activity on the day.

Following the site visit, a Cormac CV-writing day was arranged. Aryan, along with other young people, worked with Cormac employees to shape professional CVs tailored to the company. It proved to be invaluable time, allowing Aryan to share his story, highlight his skills and connect with the team on a personal level.

That connection turned out to be life changing. As a direct result of the site visit and CV day, Aryan was offered a job as a translator. His ability to speak five languages immediately impressed the HR team, who recognised how valuable his skills would be. They didn’t hesitate to offer him the role.

Aryan still plans to apply for a place on the Cormac Academy so he can continue pursuing his goal of an outdoor, hands-on job, while also using his language skills to help others like himself. For the first time, he feels his future is opening up in more than one direction.

Reflecting on the experience, Aryan said:

“I have had a really great time at the Cormac days and feel that I have been able to make a good impression on the people that might decide to give me a job, before I apply. It was great to visit the Langarth site, which helped me to realise how many possible careers there are with Cormac. The CV day was brilliant as I was able to chat to a range of people and was able to talk about my skills. This turned out to be a great opportunity as I was able to talk to Sally, who is part of the HR team, and have been offered a job as a translator. This would not have happened if I hadn’t been given the chance to attend and have real conversations with people. I have been very well supported by Carefree and am very excited about the translator’s job and about applying for the Cormac Academy.”
