This year, he took a significant step towards realising that dream by joining the People Hub programme, which has been instrumental in his transformation.
With the support of the People Hub and Pluss, Grant has successfully completed the necessary courses for brush cutter and strimmer licences, as well as pedestrian and ride-on mower qualifications. Armed with these credentials, he is now in the process of registering as self-employed with HMRC, marking a major milestone in his journey.
The People Hub programme has empowered Grant to confidently approach prospective clients, showcasing his ability to safely and competently operate various gardening machinery. This newfound confidence is paying off, as his client list steadily grows, putting him on the path to achieving his long-term ambition.
Reflecting on his experience, Grant shared, “With the help of the People Hub, I have gone from someone with very few employability skills in the area of work that I want to build a career in to a small-business owner running my own landscaping and gardening business. I now have my own website, business cards, a business email address and a steadily growing client list.”
He emphasised the importance of the People Hub, stating, “It should be something that everyone knows about. I have benefitted hugely from the guidance that I have been given, and I hope and know that more people can receive this support from the People Hub too.”
Thanks to the People Hub, Grant is well on his way to fulfilling his dream of becoming a successful self-employed gardener, inspiring others to pursue their ambitions with the right support.
