Her commitment to helping others inspired her to take on the role of trustee for START in 2023, an organisation that provides essential clothing and items to individuals who might otherwise struggle to afford them, regardless of their income status.
In 2019, Charlotte also founded ‘Crafty Chat’ at the St Austell Hub for Cornwall Neighbourhoods for Change (CN4C). This welcoming group offers a space for community members to come together, craft and share stories over tea and biscuits, fostering connections and support.
However, in early 2024, Charlotte faced her own challenges as the rising cost of living compelled her to seek new employment. Although she was passionate about helping others, she found herself in a position where she could no longer afford to meet her own needs. Determined to change her situation, Charlotte sought support from CN4C and the People Hub.
Through their guidance, Charlotte discovered the Parent Power project. In March 2024, she registered for the programme and received invaluable assistance in updating her CV, aligning it with her career aspirations. CN4C worked closely with her to identify her passions and navigate the job application process, helping her to secure a role that truly resonates with her.
Reflecting on her journey, Charlotte shared, “Without the support I received through the Parent Power project, the progress that I have made into finding employment would not have happened. Simply, I would be worse off financially as a result.”
Thanks to the resources and encouragement from CN4C and the Parent Power project, Charlotte’s mental health and overall wellbeing have significantly improved. She is now thriving in a job she loves, turning her challenges into a story of resilience and transformation.
Charlotte’s journey serves as an inspiring reminder of the power of community support and the impact it can have on individuals striving to improve their lives.
