Initially, he faced challenges accessing public spaces, such as cafes, due to his assistance dog not being recognised. Cornwall Marine Network, through the People Hub, provided Daisy with a “therapy dog” branded harness and lead to address this. This small change made a significant impact, as Keith now feels more at ease and is less frequently confronted; in fact, more people interact positively with Keith, striking up conversations about Daisy.
This increased ease has led to further positive changes. Keith joined a walking group, which has helped him feel more connected to his community. Additionally, he has taken up chair yoga, gradually rebuilding his confidence and improving his overall well-being.
This story underscores the profound impact that recognition and support for assistance dogs can have on the lives of individuals who rely on them.
