When she joined the programme she was NEET and unsure about what she wanted to do next. With regular one-to-one support she began exploring her options, starting with creating a CV and applying for work.
As her confidence grew, Ava took part in a CV-writing and mock-interview day with Corserv. She then attended an interview for a volunteer placement at Coffee 108, a local coffee shop. Ava was successful and has now started her volunteer role, which she is enjoying. The routine, the customer interaction and the chance to learn new skills have all helped her find a sense of purpose.
Her growing confidence has also enabled her to attend Carefree’s annual ‘It’s Been Emotional’ care leavers event, where she met new people and joined in with the day. For Ava this was a milestone in itself.
Looking ahead she hopes to secure paid work at Coffee 108 or another local hospitality business and build a future in hospitality and catering.
Reflecting on her journey so far, Ava said:”
“You’ve been incredible! You’re always so bubbly and such a joy to be around, and you’ve helped me secure so much, I absolutely love working at coffee 108, and I really enjoyed the little outings, working with you has definitely made me a lot more talkative to people I haven’t met yet, you’ve helped me improve a lot!”
