A Fresh Start with the People Hub

When Alona moved to the UK from Ukraine, she was eager to continue her career as an accountant.

But without UK qualifications or a job, she felt stuck and isolated. That’s when she found the People Hub Project.

With expert support from our specialist partner, the Education Development Trust, Alona got a fresh, professional CV, honed her interview skills and mapped out her career path. We also funded an online ESOL course and connected her to a specialist programme focused on accountancy terminology—which proved invaluable when she took her accountancy skills test.

Thanks to her determination and the tailored support from EDT and People Hub, Alona secured a place on an AAT Level 3 Diploma in Accounting with Accountancy Learning. She also found employment, taking her one step closer to her goal of becoming fully qualified in the UK.

Now, with six months left in her course, Alona is looking ahead to Level 4 certification and exploring work placements to gain more UK experience. With a clear pathway and growing confidence, she’s committed to making her ambitions a reality.

Reflecting on her time with the project, Alona said:
